Entourage Encoding Problems Sending to iPhone 3gs

A

Arun Bhola

Hello,

I am having a problem reading attachments on my iPhone 3gs from e-mails sent
via Entourage (Office for Mac 2008 12.1.9)

If I send an e-mail with attachment to myself and attempt to retrieve the
mail on the iPhone, all I see is a blue question mark. The attachment is not
visible. I have tried sending doc, docx, xls, and pdf files

I can read attachments fine via the following methods:
1. Mail/Attachments sent via Apple Mail
2. Mail/Attachments sent via Yahoo Mail via the Yahoo website
3. Mail/Attachments sent via Outlook 2003 (Office Pro 2003) from a desktop
4. Mail/Attachments sent via Outlook 2003 via Parallels

I have worked with Apple Support on this matter and the above tests they
asked me to do have narrowed it down to something Entourage does in its
encoding process. I have even forwarded the email/attachments to the support
rep I was working with and all attachments went thru well with various
models/revs of iPhones with the exception of those sent via Entourage.

I have also tried a variety of encoding options including all possible
combinations of AppleDouble/MIME Base64/Compression(no compression)/Append
File name/don¹t append).

Furthermore, I have even done complete restores of my iPhone and also a
reinstall of Office for Mac on my MacBook. Still no success.

My setup:
1. Using personal SBCGLOBAL e-mail account (provided by internet provider)
2. MacBook Pro Unibody 2.8GHZ Jan 2009 with all updates
3. Leopard 10.5.7 all updates
4. Office for Mac 2008 with latest update 12.1.9

I¹m hoping that thru this post, I¹ll get closer to getting a solution to
this frustrating problem.

A)Has anyone else faced this same problem?
B)Is there someone who could try the same basic test of sending an Entourage
e-mail/attachment to their iPhone and verifying legibility.
C) Is there someone who can send me an e-mail/attachment from Entourage to
(e-mail address removed) so that I can assess further if I have an issue with
my install.

Your help is much appreciated.
Thank-you.
