Error connecting to SQL Server data sources on opening InfoPath fo

When I connect to our SharePoint site from a remote location and open an
InfoPath form from within a SharePoint library I get an error that the
connection to the data sources (only those in SQL Server) can't be
established because they aren't available. When I cancel eventually the form
opens but all the form elements that get their data from the SQL server data
sources are empty.

Is this normal that the SQL Server data sources are only available to the
InfoPath form when working from an internal location? I thought SQL Server
data should be available internally and externally…

Hi,

SQL server will available internally and externally. but your sql server
will be placed in network locations. So that you can able to access the sql.

Can you check that is your SQL server and another remote location are in
same network?.

And also one more Question, Are you using same user name for remote location
and internal location machines to open Infopath?

Hi,
Once try this out. You need to configure the sql area as remote. For that
follow the below steps.
1.Go to Start -> all Programs -> Microsoft Sql server 2005.
2.Then go to configuration tools-> Sql server surface area configuration.
3.Click on ‘Surface area configuration for Services and connections’.
4.Then stop the service. Select remote connections.
5.In that select ‘Using both TCP/IP and named pipes. Click Apply.
6.Then start the service.
