Error occurred while checking spelling - Outlook

Each time I attempt a spell check in Outlook, I get the following message:

Error occurred while checking spelling

I get the message twice, then it clears. How do I solve this problem?

Sebastian...I also started receiving this message, exactly the same as you
have described, beginning today. Using Outlook 2003.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried "Detect and Repair", and it did
not fix the problem.

Hi 998R,

Well I solved the problem. I run Outlook 2002. I had to change my email
settings to solve. If you have the following settings, it should solve the
problem.

Go to Tools the select Options. Under the Mail Format tab select "Use
Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages". I have also selected "Use Microsoft
Word to read Rich Text e-mail messages".

That seemed to solved the problem. Play with the othern setting. My compose
setting is HTML.

See how you go with that one.

Sebastian,

I fixed my similar problem (using Outlook 2003) by renaming the custom
dictionary "custom.dic" to "custom.old". When I restarted O2K3, it created a
new "custom.dic" file (empty, of course), and the error messages stopped.
This also fixed a similar problem that I had with Publisher 2003.

Strange as it may seem, the problem did not occur with PowerPoint or Word.
Strange indeed!
