excel 2007 deleting columns and maintaining references

I have a spreadsheet with columns (U & V) that calculates percentages & sums
from columns H thru T . The data in columns N thru T is old data (previous
year's data). I would like to delete columns N thru T and have the formulas
(in columns U & V) now refer to columns A - M without loosing the
references. Of course, with the deletion of columns N thru T, the
"calculating" columns (previously U & V) become columns N & O. Is there a
way to do this without loosing the cell references in the "calculating"
columns so that I don't have to go back and reset the formulas? I've tried
using absolute cell references without success.
Any guidance on how I can accomplish this would be very much appreciated.
