Excel crashes when printing- MSVCRT.DLL to blame?

I keep getting errors on two machines after printing
several documents. Excel crashes out and event log entries
point to MSVCRT.DLL. The first few print jobs go fine, but
after a little while it crashes out during a print job.
This happens on two separate machines, nearly identical
setups.
The machines are running Windows XP and Office 2000 - all
patched up as of 11/17/03

It doesn't happen on Windows 98 machines.

The printer is an HP LJIII hooked up to a Win2000
workstation.
Any ideas?
