Excel Not Responding

I have Excel 2000 running on ME. It's been running
flawlessly for two years. All of a sudden when I click
on any Excel file, Excel does not respond and it locks up
the PC with nothing but hourglass.

I uninstalled ane reinstalled Office 2000 pro, I
installed all the Office 2000 updates, same problem.

The first time or two it happened I got a low memory
message but the system has 87% resources available.
