Excel pop-up calendar

Processor: Intel

I have been trying to create a formula that will allow for a pop-up calendar to display when a cell that is formatted for a date is clicked or hovered.

I know there is a way to do this through VBA on the Win versions, but with all of my searches, I have found nothing related to this function in Excel 2008. I also found an add-on program for the Win version, but of course, only supported by Windows versions of Excel.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Well, there are at least 2 roadblocks in Excel 2008 that obviate the
specific capability you refer to in the Windows version:

1- Office 2008 does not support VBA, and
2- The Win method involves a Calendar control which is an ActiveX element &
ActiveX isn't supported on Macs.

There may be a way but I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest. If you
provide more detail on how you intend the calendar to be used perhaps
someone can offer an Apple Script solution or other option.
