Exchange 2007

Hi

I am using Entourage 2008 (with the latest updates) against an Exchange 2007
server using the Exchange connect. I am only using it as an external
network (No active Directory corporate but a Hosted Provider)

1. The email works with some minor problems (reported sync failures)
despite these failure messages I can send and receive mail without problems.
Entourage can spend a lot of time syncing if on a slow connection.

2. Calendar.
I can see my calendar but cannot update it. (sync failure -18500 unknown
error)
I cannot see other peoples calendars.
I cannot see other peoples free/busy.

3: Global Address book. I have no access to an LDAP server with our
provider therefore no global address book.

4. Task/ToDo not synced. This is not possible with entourage.

The sync failures could well be related to the lack of LDAP.

I hope this helps.

Hi Chrys,
2. Calendar.
I can see my calendar but cannot update it. (sync failure -18500 unknown
error)
I cannot see other peoples calendars.
I cannot see other peoples free/busy.

That tells me that the free/busy (public folder) server location is not
setup properly. You need to double-check it in the advanced settings for
your Excahnge account in Entourage.
3: Global Address book. I have no access to an LDAP server with our
provider therefore no global address book.

There's nothing that can be done about this then :-\
4. Task/ToDo not synced. This is not possible with entourage.

Right :-(

The Free/busy (public folder) server setting is one of the most closely
guarded secrets in the world. The only advice I have ever received is check
it but not a hint as to how/what should be there.

One point I found was that with Exchange 2007 you no longer need the

Server/exchange/user configuration in the Exchange server but can simply put
the Front end server in and it works (nice change) but I have tried this
with the free/busy and that does not work

I have tried various configuration of server and folder but without success.

Perhaps someone can explain what is required? Our server is called
services.xxxxxxxxxx.net This contains evreything OWA etc it is a front-end
server. I have tried using this for the public folder server but no
change. Oh yes and the server uses SSL but the default port.

Hi Chris!

You should be able to use just services.xxxxxxxxxx.net for the public
folder server address, however, if that doesn't work try
services.xxxxxxxxxx.net/public.

If that doesn't work connect to the top level of public folders using
OWA and examine the address there. The folder by default is "public" but
may have been renamed.

I'd also suggest that is you continue having problems then post back
here but begin your own thread. You've tacked your question onto someone
else's very old thread, which has been taken over by others asking their
own questions. This one's a mess.

Hope this helps!

....or moved. We migrated to new servers here recently and the public
folder is not even on the same server as the e-mails anymore :-[
