False Outlook Error Message - Can't open URL

When I click on an embedded link in an e-mail message, Outlook displays an
error report indicating " --- general failure - system can't find file
speficifed ---"; however, my browser (Firefox) does open and the URL is
properly displayed almost every time.
How can I eliminate this false error message and why does it appear?

I use Firefox as my default, and found a simple solution: open Firefox
before clicking links in Outlook 2007.

But, of course, that doesn't SOLVE the problem, only works around it.

My question is why did you have to post this so many times to so many

Maybe I don't understand the norms here, being new. It seemed to me that
some readers might check one thread or another, and not find the response
that, for me, solved the problem (OK, workaround, if you want to get
technical).

This is NOT a "False" message. It is a real message, annoying as can be.

I have the same problem. It is an Outlook 2007 generated problem and
Microsoft should fix it. The workaround discussed is very clumsy and does
NOT solve the problem.

I have seen no acknowledgment by Microsoft that this is a problem or that
they intend to fix it.

Microsoft's arrogance and lack of concern for the quality of their products
becomes more apparent every day. I'll keep using my new computer for 2 more
years, and then Microsoft will never see me again.

I have the same problem with IE8 but there doesn't seem to be any registry
fixes for Intenet explorer. Have tried all the "setting IE as default"
attempts and none worked for me.

any ideas?
