frames/boxes/outline of text

When I paste text from another document or open a older document in 2007,
there are always a bunch of lines that outline the text, graphics, tables,
etc. I am not able to move the text around in the directions that I want.
When I hit enter, it gives me another box/outline of that text or blank space.

Is there anyway to fix this or will I haqve to create a new document? I've
tried Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Q suggestion from another post, however this had no effect
on the outlines/boxes etc.

Thanks for the reply Suzanne.

I believe so, but I am not sure how to turn them off. Also, why would
borders surround every word/paragraph/graph/table in my document? This just
does not make sense to me...

The only reason would be that they are included in the style definition. If
you have text boundaries displayed, then there might be other issues
involved.
