Gannt chart zoom and timescale

Why does the zoom for a GANNT chart completely alter my timescale?
For example if I set a two tier timescale (Years, Months) then "Zoom to
Entire Project" my timescale may be altered to something like "weeks" and
"days".
Is there somthing I can set so the zoom operation does not alter my
timescale settings?

Hi

the "zoom" function zooms in on the timescale (making the timescale units
smaller) or zooms out (making the timescale units larger) this is how it
works and it can't be changed. Therefore i recommend to people that the
only time really that you worry about using Format/Timescale is when you go
to print.

I second Julie's advice. And go a step further to recommend that you create
and set aside a view solely for printing with the timescale the way you
like.

You're just talking about the Gannt chart, right? That scale changes
depending on the zoom level indicated - which is what I'd expect and what
I've always seen.

I've not seen tasks ever changing from hours to days, however.
