gantt chart pages

Jackie

Sometimes for no apparent reason my file prints lots and lots of pages of the
bar charts portion of the gantt view whilst at times it just print the gantt
chart part where the tasks are listed. Do you know how to set the file to be
printing only the tasks pages and not the whole file?
Many thanks

Hi Jackie,

What parts of the Gantt Chart view printed depends upon what you are
seeing on your screen. If you drag the split bar separating the Gantt
(graphic) from the task sheet (left side) to the far right, hiding the
graphic, only the task sheet will print. However, if a very small
sliver of the Gantt chart is on screen, the entire Gantt chart graphic
will print.

If you want to print only the task sheet, drag the split bar as far
right as you can. The alternative is to change the view (View > More
Views) to the Task Sheet view and print.

I also suggest *always* print previewing before printing -- it can save
a bunch of paper. You can also select to print only certain pages if
you use the File > Print command not just the Print button on the
toolbar.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie
Thanks for your reply.
It all works as per your instructions, apart from the Print/Preview bit.
I think I am missing something.
Say for instance, I have a project that shows on screen, even just a sliver
of the Gantt chart, when I print, it prints all the chart graphics, as per
your reply. I am ok with that.
What is confusing is that when I go to File/Print Preview (on screen) it
only shows me the pages with tasks. Any ideas why?
Many thanks again

Hi Jackie,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

To your question about what is showing in print preview. I'm not sure I
understand completely -- are you saying you see something different when
you print preview versus when you actually print the file? That
particular issue is frequently caused by out of date printer drivers.
See FAQ #44 "Printing Problems" at:
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

I also suggest making sure when you print preview that you are looking
at all of the pages in print preview. Project is a bit different in how
you move through the pages in print preview. In the upper left corner
of the print preview window there are both page down and page right
buttons. Usually the task sheet (left side) can be previewed by the
page down buttons and the Gantt chart portion is visible throug the page
right buttons.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
