Generic Resource Task Assignments

What is the best way to see a list of task assignments all enterprize
projects for a single generic resource or multiple generic resources?
I tried "View resource assignments" in PWA but it does not seem to work
like it does for real resources.

Interesting question. You sould be able to see the generic resources 2 ways:
1. under resources generate a view called "generic resources" and filter by
the generic resouces. Choose the generic resource and click "View
availability" that should give you an indication of the workload of the
resource.

2. within the Portfolio Analyser you could generate reports, unfortunatly
out of the box you cannot view on a task level. In order to do this you need
to extend your cube. There is a great 3rd party tool out there which allows
you to extend your cube for the analysis purpose you require. Have a lookl at:

The tool is called "Portfolio Analyser Extender"

I hope this will bring you closer to your requirements

Marc,

Thanks for the reply. I have used option 1 "View availabilty". It
just does not produce an easy list to use. The time line view of the
tasks is great but I am looking more for a list like "View resource
assignments" gives you for real resources. I will look at your other
suggestion.

What if I would convert the generic resources to a non generic ones
(uncheck the box)? What would be lost by doiing this? I have all my
generic resources prfixed with a "g" such as "gElectrical Engineer" so
the are easy to distinguish them from real resources.

Marc:

Microsoft Office Project Server is licensed by user, not by how many
resources you put in your resource pool. The fact that the software creates
logon accounts for all non-generic work resources and then assumes that they
are users, doesn't obligate licensees to pay for them.

Gary,

Thanks for the clarifications on the licenses. Do you have any
suggestions on how to get a listing of all tasks assigned to generic
resources?
