Groove 2007 Retail - included subscription

I have a retail version of Office Ultimate that I use in a home setting (no
Groove Server/Relay access/management), and I notice it comes with a 5 year
subscription to the relay service. Is Microsoft really going to cut off
public access to people 5 years into using a product with a 10 year product
lifecycle?

I haven't seen anything about what public relay server users will do to keep
Groove working after the included subscription expires. I only use my license
on 1 computer, but I use it to help family members elsewhere synchronize
multiple computers.

It seems odd to think we'd have to turn around and purchase a subscription
for a product like Groove Live when we've already paid for Groove. I expect
it from security products, but not this.

We moved from 3.1 to 2007 because we were told that MS would be shutting down
the public relays this year. Maybe that was only an issue since 3.1 was up
before MS acquired Groove Networks. They may cut you off after 5 and you'll
have to purchase a subscription to the private relay. The subscription does
not cost a whole lot.
