Groove 2007 sp2 shuts down LAN Access to Vista Server for XP Machines

Good Afternoon everyone

I have an interesting and puzzling predicament. I have a Vista Pro
server (patches and fixes are UTD) and 2 XP Pro SP3 machines connected
to the server through the LAN. All the shares work and the XP
machines can see and share the files on the Vista machine and visa
versa.

I have two off site Vista Pro Laptops that use Groove to share files
with the same Vista Pro machine in my customer's office.

Then I start Groove - I perform a sync with the off site laptops and
after it is finished syncing the changed files in the various Groove
workspaces the LAN shuts down...

no other way to describe it.

the XP boxes cannot see the shares on the VISTA network. But the
vista network sees the computers and files on the XP machines (the XP
machines do not use Groove)

If I shut down Groove on the Vista Box I have to reboot to reestablish
the XP connections to the Vista Files...

Can anyone help me maintain the LAN file shares AND utilize groove for
the off site computers?

Trying to remember that I cannot pass under Yellow Flags!

Hi Bravejoe,

Are any of these connection done through a VPN? We have seen Groove cause
VPN connections to shut down because of the many communication attempts that
happen, but shutting down a network is not something I have heard of.

Some things to look at:

1. How are the XP computers connecting to the Vista – wireless, hard wire,
are they establishing a Network Drive?
2. What are your procedures, step by step, of syncing the offsite computers
with Groove?
3. Are you using Groove File Sharing spaces or standard Groove spaces?
4. Are the folders that you are syncing with your XP machines the same
folders that you are syncing through Groove?
