Grouping : Order of displaying group titles

D

Dominique

Reference is made to the discussion (between quotes) below.

Moving rows around in the Value List dialog box just controls the order the
items (may) appear in the value dropdown list. It doesn't control the order
the values are displayed when grouped. In stead the grouping order is either
ascending or descending alphabetically... which doesn't make sense. Why
would someone want to see the values appear in a certain order in the
dropdown list and NOT want to see them appear in the same order when
displayed?

In summary : the display order of the values in a group view should allow
the same choices as the display order in the dropdown list, namely : By row
number; Sort ascending; Sort descending.

Best regards, Dominique

Ok, thanks anyway.

I'll have to do the same with the subgroups then (e.g. for discipline and
location fields). But it doesn't look nice because not all subgroup values
are present in every main group (Workphase) so the numbering will jump from 1
to 4 to 7 etc. Definitely something for Microsoft to work on. Works ok in
Primavera for instance.

Sorry, as far as I know, the grouping order choice is either ascending
or descending by description if one is entered or by list value if no
description is entered. I suggest the option you found - insert a
number before the description to control the order of the grouping.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
