Hardware or Software problem?

In the last few months, my projector (Dell 2100MP) has suddenly begun to auto
advance quite rapidly through a power point presentation (PPT 2003). So
rapidly that a 40 slide presentation will fly by in under 5 seconds. I can
never tell when/if the problem might occur. It might operate fine for 30
minutes then start flipping out. I don't use any auto advance features in
ppt and the presentation runs perfectly on a different laptop/projector
combo. And, so far, the presentation runs fine on my dell laptop (sans
projector). I originally thought it must be the projector, but then I thought
it must be the software because the projector is just projecting the actions
occuring on the computer.
Thoughts?

I think I would download and reinstall the video card driver and possibly
directx. (Assuming you have all Office and Windows updates installed.)

Are you using a remote control? When did you change the batteries? Old
batteries might cause strange "errors" ...

Unfortunately, this has happened while using the remote AND by using the
arrow keys to advance the slides.
