How can I get hyperlinks in MHT files to open a new window in Internet Explorer

I have a menu created in PowerPoint with hyperlinks to PowerPoint
Presentations. I would like to store the menus on a webserver as MHT
files but would like the hyperlinks to open the presentations in a new
browser window. PowerPoint does not allow me to specify the target
e.g. target="_blank" Does anyone know a way of controlling the target?

P.S. Just to clarify - The presentations are also to be stored in MHT
format. An MHT file to MHT file hyperlink seems to always open up in
the same window. An MHT file to PPT file opens up in a new window.

I would suggest you not save as MHT files. This puts all of your
presentation into one (which can become quite large) file which the viewer
has to download before it can be viewed. It would be better to publish to
HTML which breaks the presentation into smaller packages.

Michael,
The reason we want to use MHT is that the presentations are being
stored on SharePoint and to have the whole presentation in one file is
very advantageous. Using PPT and PPS means we get variable results due
to differences in client set ups.

Steve,
The workaround we have found is to save the presentation to the desktop
as HTM, then edit slide0001.htm in notepad to replace _parent with
_blank. Then open the presentation htm file in Internet Explorer (if
you use PowerPoint, it undoes the editting)and SaveAs Archive Web File
(MHT).
Best Wishes, John.
