How do I alter default to turn off superscript for numbers, dates

I'm using Word and Vista, and would like to know how to change the default so
that dates and numbers (1st, 2nd, etc) don't come up in superscript. I've
looked in Word Options but can't find a solution.

Go to Word Options>Proofing>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat tab and uncheck
the box for "Ordinals (1st) with superscript"

That's an AutoFormat As You Type setting. Unfortunately, saying you
have Word and Vista doesn't reveal which version of Word it is.

In Word 2003 or earlier, go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options >
AutoFormat As You Type and uncheck "Ordinals (1st) with superscript".

In Word 2007, go to Office button > Word Options > Proofing >
AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type and uncheck "Ordinals
(1st) with superscript".
