In copying I am having difficulties retaining the format of flowchart
particularly in relation to text tabs

  2. Could you provide some additional information?

What version of Word, which Flowchart method are you
using (Drawing Canvas or individual grouped elements, or???)

What are you trying to achieve when you're talking about
    text tabs?

The 'anchoring' of a graphic/chart may be influenced by
the version of Word and from Format=>Autoshape/Picture/Drawing Canvas
from the Layout wrapping and Advanced option settings for example.

    thanks Bob
I am using MS Word 2002 (10.2627.2625) and I have opened a new document
created a flowchart using AutoShapes /FlowChart. I am adding text to the
Shapes and then trying to copy and paste the entire flow chart into another
word document (I would like to be able to continue to edit the flow chart
once it is in the new document) Once I copied the flowchart all of the text
in the flowchart seemed to be affected by the tabs in the document to which i
copied it which meant that most of the text became not visible.
I have since tried importing the flowchart document as a file and this seems
to work. I also tried importing flowchart as an object from Visio 2000 but
did not have much luck there.
My basic need is to draw a flowchart (in word, visio or some other
aaplication ) and then be able to import it into one or more word documents
without losing the ability to make changes to the flowchart after it has been
    imported
