How do I set the connection angle for a connection on a shape?

The book "Microsoft Office Visio 2003", Walker & Eaton, says on pages 79-80,
that one can set the Angle of Connection by enabling Developer Mode. I tried
this, but the connection angle arrows don't show up when I click on a
connection point.

I would like to set the connection angle because on a shape that I defined,
the connections always go the same direction as the line to which the
connection is connected. E.g., I have a trapezoid shape with an inward
triangular notch on the widest edge. (It's a standard symbol for an adder.)
I added connection points on the line segments on either side of the notch.
When I connect to these points, the lines run on top of the lines that make
up the symbol instead of going perpendicular.

If there's another way of getting the connection angle to be perpendicular
to the line segment in the shape, I'd like to know that.

Thanks for any help you can give,
Chelmite

Visio no longer has the ability to modify connection angle through the
drawing. You should go to Window > Show Shapesheet and enter the angles in
the Connection Points section.

I right-clicked on the offending shape and selected Show ShapeSheet. There is
no Connection Points section. I right-clicked in the gray area on the
ShapeSheet and selected View Sections. Connection Points is grayed out.
If I edit the Master Symbol, there's no Connection Points section, even
though there are several connection points in my shape.
If I ungroup all the items in my shape (I group them so that the pieces of
my symbol won't be accessible, deletable, changeable, etc when they're used
in a drawing.), the polygon that has the connection points does have the
appropriate shapesheet.connection_points section. Why isn't this accessible
when the symbol is used in a drawing?

OK, you found the shape within the group that has the connection points.
You can access this shape without ungrouping. Select your shape and choose
Edit > Open Group.
