How do I slow down Autoscroll in word 2003?

I have an IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 and when I activate the Autoscroll lock
in word 2003 the scroll speed is much too fast. How do I slow down the
Autoscroll speed when the scroll is locked by pushing down on the scroll
wheel?

Try selecting with the keyboard (I'm pretty mouse-centric a person
myself, but it's faster, and all you need is the arrow keys combined
with SHIFT and CTRL -- and not only in Word :)), or see whether the
following article helps:

Hi Robert,

I have the same problem using an Intellimouse 1.3A PS/2 Compatible mouse.
It is not the selecting of text that is the issue, but reading long documents
in autoscroll is impractical because it is too fast. It ran at a more
sensible rate in an earlier version of Word.
