how, if i can, do i save a word file as a jpeg?

You can't save an entire document as a JPEG, but you can save individual
pages as JPEGs. Download the free trial of SnagIt (www.techsmith.com) and
"print" the document to the SnagIt printer driver. It will create one image
per page, and you can save the images as JPEGs.
