How to safely uninstall Service Office XP Pack 2

I can no longer open many text documents saved in Word on CD-RW which I use
in my business. Problem started after I downloaded/installed Service Pac 2
for office XP.

Office service packs cannot be uninstalled. To revert to a
pre-service-pack condition, you have to complete uninstall Office from
Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and then reinstall Office
from the original CD. But I don't think the problem you mention is
related to SP2 for Office XP. Word does not work well with files on
removable media (floppies, CDs, etc.). You should copy the files from
the CD to your hard drive, modify the copies on the hard drive, and then
use Windows Explorer or your CD-writing software to copy the files back
to the CD.
