Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC What are the limitations.

I have created a template and specified, header and footer, fonts, font styles and colours, paragraph width, margins, colours, added a company logo and I have a box in the background in the centre page sitting behind and formatted to the margin saved it as a .dot.

When I open a new document from template in project gallery it seems to work fine.

But if update a current document with template add ons... function some of the fonts change and some of the formatting changes. but page setting margins my background box get ignored why? Don't think colours are remembered either.

Tearing my hair out!

thanks

Most likely the text formatting changes are occurring because the style
names of the styles in the template are the same as the names of those in
the document you're attaching the template to. Essentially, the existing
sytles are being replaced by the incoming styles so the formatting changes
acordingly -- but only for the content which is already formatted using
those styles.

Other than that, 'attaching' a template does not alter anything about the
document... Margins, Headers & Footers, paper size, graphics or any other
type of content.
