HYPERLINKS NOT WORKING

Hi everyone - I have a website hyperlink on the home page that works great -
however I'm trying to link (this is a web page for my science department at
the high school where I teach) pictures and short video clips that I have on
my flash drive to certain parts of the each page - NONE open.

Also - I want to link pages to each of the pages on the navigation bar that
should not show on the home page. Help - I'm all alone out here....

Thank you DavidF. I have printed the instructions and will try to figure out
the URL for my word docs? or my powerpoints? I'll work on it....

As far as the second question - basically on the home page there is a link
for "Departments" when the viewer clicks on "Departments" a page opens up
that lists all the departments and the teachers in those departments under
each title ie: "biology" "chemistry" etc. All teachers want to link there
personal home page to this "Department" page where there name is located.
Thanks again - If I can figure this out I'll be a hero!! - which makes YOU a
hero ;o)

Hi, teacher. I had the same problem and was told by my cable company that I
would not be able to create separate URL's for my files. I only get one
website. I don't know if you will run into that problem. Here's how I solved
it--I simply added a bunch of blank pages to my website and dumped all the
external content into them. Then I hyperlinked to the page where the material
started instead of an external file on my hard drive. To reduce the size of
my website, I clicked on the little icon that comes up in the picture toolbar
for compressing pictures. You can tell it to change the size of all of them
at one time for web or print use. If possible, you will probably want the
print instead of the web resolution for clearer pictures. If your file is
still too large for your allotted webspace, compress the pix to web
resolution. I was surprised at how significant the difference was in my file
size once I did this. Good luck! I know how alone you feel. I'm trying to
figure all this stuff out for the first time, too.

Question one, you just needed to upload your word , PowerPoint, PDF docs to
your website and write a link to them as per the article. Question two,
sounds like you just need to insert a hyperlink to those teachers websites.
In both cases I would recommend absolute links. Should be pretty
straightforward stuff once you understand how to write hyperlinks, but if it
is more than that, post back.

Thank you - that sounds like a very viable solution - I think I tried that -
but when you highlight the text where you want the hyperlink to go - in my
case "biology department" then go to >insert >hyperlink >what? Am I headed
in the wrong direction? I was surprised to see how easy it was to add
animation - I just copy and paste onto the pages and they really come alive -
if you haven't tried that yet.

After you insert the file contents on separate pages, right-click on your
highlighted text that you want to link to the new page. Select hyperlink.
When the next screen pulls up, click "place in this document." You'll see all
your page numbers. I have about 50 pages in mine now. I hit "Change Title" on
the individual pages numbers and changed the names of the pages so I could
keep track of them easily. Once you click on a page, the link will happen.
Your highlighted text will now link to that page. When I added the files and
they took more than one page, I would add a link to "Go to the next page" or
you can use an arrow that you hyperlink. Also, I would add a link on the new
page to go back to the previous page. I hope that makes sense. It's the only
way I could figure out to get around the separate files problem. Yes,
animation is great, but be careful. That stuff is memory hungry. Find out how
much storage space you will have on your website. I check my current file
size often by going to My Computer. The size of the file shows up under the
file name. Good luck!
