hyperlinks, word, too long document name

Greetings from soon to be frigid again, Minnesota!

I have experienced a problem with hyperlinks in a word documen
breaking if the file name they are linked to is too long. I solved i
by shortening up the file names.

Now I am writing guidlines for customers in regard to file naming, an
linking. Does anyone know what the maximum number of character
allowed (that will link) in a document name?
