iCal to Entourage Good. Entourage to iCal Not Good.

I just installed Entourage 2008 on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8.

I have turned on sync services.

I can place an event in iCal under the calendar Entourage, and the event will show in Entourage's calendar.

However, when I place an event in Entourage's calendar, it does not show up in iCal.

Any thoughts? I really need to make this work.

The event from Entourage should appear in the Entourage calendar from iCal.

If not, try: 1. Quit Entourage and iCal, open iSync, delete history of iSync in the iSync prefs panel. Test a new synchronisation.

2. If it doesn't do anything, the calendar 'Entourage' from iCal should be corrupted. You should turn off Synchronisation from Entourage. Quit entourage (MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR IDENTITY FILE, in case something goes wrong). And try to delete the corrupt calendar from iCal for Entourage to create a new one.

3.If it doesn't work either, try to delete file cache from Home>Library>Calendars before relaunching iCal. (iCal will create a new cache for its calendars).

Hope it helps.

Thanks Richard,

Tried everything, and still a no go. I can post an event on iCal and it shows in Entourage immediately.

I can post something in Entourage, and it does not show in iCal.

Reset sync in iSync.

Followed instructions on step 2.

Deleted iCal prefs and cache.

Still no joy. :(

This is an interesting one as it really is the reverse of what
generally happens. Here's what I'd do. Let's just re-generate a
complete sync of Entourage to iCal. Back everything up -iCal,
Addressbook, Entourage Main Identity in docs/Microsoft User Data.

Now, turn off sync in Entourage if you haven't already done that. Go
to iCal and delete the iCal calendar. Go back to Entourage and turn on
sync for Calendars only and at the prompt choose combine. Give it a
couple/few minutes and your iCal should be populated with Entourage's
calendar and in sync.

Now try a sync from Entourage then from iCal. This should work. If it
doesn't you may have to run from Apple.com support the steps from
article TS1627 (everything) and then do what I just told you to do
above. However, before doing a full reset of the syncservices folder
as specified in TS1627 do what I suggested first.

Let us know if it works as its useful to others to know if a procedure
or what procedure resolves a problem.
