import problem: type conversion failure

I imported 2 txt files into Access but both times Access gave me a conversion
failure message and a new table with Type Conversion Failure details. I have
two questions: (1) how can I avoid this type of error message in the future
when importing from txt files? (2) For the records documented in the
Conversion Failure table, are they included in the table which contains
correctly imported records, and if not, how can I combine these records in
the correctly imported table?
