Index not existing

I have Outlook 2007 on Windows XP Pro, Exchange Server 2003

The Quick Search facility has stopped working.

When I go to Indexing Status, I be a message "Cannot find this file. Verify
the path and file name are correct."

If I go to the Control Panel, Indexing Options. I see a message "Waiting to
receive indexing status"

I note also that the Search facility in Explorer has gone.
