InfoPath form, accessed by mobile device, stuck on"Loading Form"

VIDRO

I followed the instruction of “LAB 9: Designing InfoPath 2007 Forms for
Mobile Web Browserâ€
The forms works when I use it and view it from a laptop using IE7 but when
I access the form from a mobile browser from a mobile 5 device the form
starts to load than continues with “Loading form†message.
I do get the “submit†“save†“close†options that would be on the form but
the form itself does not ever seem to load. I’m not getting any errors. Just
the screen continually saying “ loading formâ€.
Any ideas why the form is not loading completely?
I should add I’ve gone over the lab multiple times so I know I’ve done every
thing it says to do.

Hey Vidro,
Did you enable the form to render on a mobile device?
Open Form Options> then click on the Browswer tab>Tick the "Enable rendering
on a mobile device" check box

Hope this helps

Yes this was done. BUT something I just noticed, I went back and tried to
open this form on my laptop but using the mobile site. When I opened the
"form templates" site and hit on "'display" to open the form it wants to down
load the form and not open it in browser. I checked every thing and all
settings should let it open in browser. Something else that's odd to me. when
accessing forms in the GUI form templates the option to start filling out a
form is the option to "new" than you stat filling in the form this "new"
option is not in the mobile view, only the "display". Is that right?

Hey Vidro,
Ok so it sounds like the settings in the form are correct you might want to
check the settings for the form library.

Go to the settings page for your form library
Click on Advanced Settings
Under browser enabled documents. make sure the "Display as Web Page" option
is selected.

Could you also please give me some more details for your last point

as I couldn't quite understand what you mean

The mobile devices that will be accessing the forms are Mobile 5 units, I
also test the site with my laptop XPSP3 with IE 7.
Using the Laptop;
When I access the forms site using the site path “m†to get to the mobile
site, the view is a folder directory structure,“FormTemplates†being one of
those folders.
When I click on this folder I get a screen that shows the form name than an
underneath the name is an option “displayâ€. when I click on the file name or
“display†option, a window popup asking to “open†or “save†. If you click
“open†it opens in InfoPath not the browser.

Now using a Mobile 5 device, navigating to the same place and performing the
same actions, when it ask to “open†or “save†on the laptop, this is where
it would say “Loading Form†on the Mobile Device but then would just be
stay there

Going back to the Laptop;
If I navigate to the FormTamplate diretory and access the form from GUI
IE 7 my options working with the form in the GUI interface is "New".
When choosing
"new" the form opens in the browser and it can be filled out.

I hope this gives you a better picture of what is happening.

Ahh I think I might be experience a Permission thing. I went to the
SharePoint server where the form library is, opened the mobile "form
template" directory, clicked on "display" for the form and the form open in
the browser without asking if I wanted to "open" or "save". This is not the
behavior of at browser that would be accessing this form from a remote
browser. What permissions have to be on the Formdirectory for the form to
open from a remote browser?
The user that I have been signing in as has full permissions to the
FormsTemplate library

Hey Vidro,
The user that is accessing the form has full access then their shouldn't be
any issues, I wouldn't think using a windows mobile 5 device would cause you
any issues either as it's simply IE rendering what is essentially a HTML
form.

It may be that you have controls in your form that are not supported in the
mobile view. the following link has a list of all controls that are and are
not suppoted by the mobile view. Unfortunately the Design checker in the
designer won't tell you what is and isn't supported so you'll have to have a
look through the list and rule them out

Hope this helps
