Inking troubles in OneNote 07

dra1002

Greetings group,
I tried the suggestions from Ben and Josh on the previous thread.
I even removed and re-installed Office 07. Ink still won't work in OneNote
07. Inking works in Journal and Word 07. I converted handwriting to text in
Journal and I added a signature with the pen in Word.
I then re-installed SP2 along with 2 related patches from HP for the
tc1100.
When OneNote starts things look normal, but as soon as the pen touches the
screen, I get the message "OneNote requires Microsoft Windows Tablet PC
Edition 2005 with Service Pack 2 in order for inking functions to work
properly."Then all the inking functions gray out.

Any more ideas?
Thanks,
Dennis

Please do everyone a favor and keep within the same thread and not start
two new threads. New threads make it very difficult to follow the issue.

Hi Patrick
I only started the new thread because the original one seemed "broken".
I tried several times to reply to it. Everything seemed OK when replying,
except that the replies never showed up. The second thread had the same
symptom except it showed up several hours later. Finally, this one appears to
be working. I even had a friend on another computer try to reply to the first
thread. No luck.
I did not know who to contact about these kind of troubles. It seemed that
starting a new thread was my best bet.

Just thought you ought to know.

Thanks for giving your time to help the community.
Regards,
Dennis

Hey another one! I like copy and paste...seriously a web search should have
brought this up : )

Please see here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/descapa/archi...on-2005-with-service-pack-2-what-is-that.aspx

-----------------------
We have an internal email distribution list where people can ask questions
to the OneNote product team and over the past months there have been a few
emails about this error:

OneNote requires Microsoft Windows Tablet PC Edition 2005 with Service Pack
2 in order for inking functions to work properly. You can install Service
Pack 2 from the Windows product pages on the Microsoft Web site.

When this occurs this is just because of an unregistered DLL and you can fix
it by doing the following:

1. open up a command prompt (on Vista make sure it is an elevated command
prompt)
2. cd "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Ink"
3. "regsvr32 /s inkobj.dll"
4. Close and restart OneNote

This should fix the problem you are having. Ideally you should never see
this but I am hoping that by blogging this if you search on Windows Live or
Google you will see this link and you can fix your problem : )

Does this work??
