Insert Symbol Error Word 2007

I previously posted about this but I don't think this forum bumps newly
posted threads to the top.

I am using word 2007 and I'd like to be able to insert symbols without the
program crashing, but it seems like that isn't possible. The program crashes
whenever I insert a symbol. I don't understand why.

I've done everything I can think of - I repaired word about 10 times, I've
deleted my printer and set a different default, and I've deleted the Word
Datakey.

Please, please, please tell me how I can get this fixed. I really don't like
writing in symbols all the time.

First I suggest that you go into your temp folder (usually in your user
profile) and whilst all applications are closed delete everything that has
been abandoned. (This may be thousands of files if you haven't done it
regularly). Then see next below.

It still sounds as though you have a printer driver problem. Try installing
the Windows Generic Text printer as a local printer. It doesn't matter that
you don't have another printer. Set it as the Windows Default printer, then
restart Word and see if you can insert symbols again.

I did both of those things, deleted the Word DataKey, and tried and it still
crashes.

Any more suggestions? I'm starting to get annoyed now :p

I've had the dialog crash on me after I installed a corrupt (free) font.
Maybe you have some fishy fonts you might try to move out of the Windows
Fonts folder experimentally?

Klaus
