Inserting a Word Doc as an object

I have successfully inserted pdfs, excel docs and other files into my
PowerPoint document but I've tried repeatedly to insert a Word Document and I
get a message that says -
"The server application, source file, or item can't be found or returned an
unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application."
Do you know how I might go about doing that or why I can insert all other
types of objects except for Word docs?

It is very strange.
