Install of Office 2007 on Win 7 does not install VBA

Hello,

New install of Win7 Ultimate 64 bit from Dell. Office Pro 2007 installs, but
there is no VBA folder under C:\Program Files ... \Microsoft Shared\, thus no
VBE6.dll.

My normal.dotm files loads. Trying to start Visual Basic from the Developer
ribbon gives me a "Could not open macro storage." then Visual Basic editor
loads and displays the usual list of modules in the Normal template.

All attempts using Office setup to install VBA fail (it's indicated by
default that it should be installed and run from the computer, partly because
Access needs it by default).

There is a VBA folder in the correct location under the Program Files (x86)
folder.

Is this because this is a 64 bit system and Office/VBA is not? Is there an
update, etc., that would enable me to continue to program in VBA for Word in
this environment?

I have XP mode installed on this machine, but am not utilizing it yet.

Given that there seems to be a 32 bit version of Office installed under the
(x86) folder, can I somehow utilize it? Running the copy of msword.exe found
under that folder does not enable VBA to function. Obviously, I'm missing
something here ...

Word, Outlook, all the other Office programs seem to function normally from
this install, just no ability to utilize VBA.

Thanks for any insights,

Ian J.

Damn. World has gone and evolved again ...

From: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee691831(office.14).aspx

"With the introduction of the new 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2010, a
new version of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), known as
Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications 7.0 (VBA 7), is being released to
work with both 32-bit and 64-bit applications."

So, I gather Office 10 is the answer to my question.

As Office 2010 is still beta, I'd still be interested in any insights into
whether I can run 32 bit Office 2007 and VBA on this install of 64 bit Win7.

Hell. There must be something wrong with my normal.dotm, which I had copied
over from my other, Vista Ultimate, machine.

When I deleted that .dotm on the Win7 machine and let Word create a new one,
I was able to record and run VBA macros no problem.

I was also thinking that there should have been a version of Word under the
64 bit Program Files folder, which there isn't and shouldn't be. There is a
VBA folder where it's supposed to be under the Program Files (x86) folder.

So, I forgot the first rule of debugging problems with Word: first, delete
your Normal file.

Over and out.
