OK, the Remove Office tool is operating correctly, there's something else
wrong.

Check back in a few days, I'm escalating this one to Microsoft...

I'm wondering if permissions in the prefs folder may be set wrong, but I
would expect that:
A. the 'remove office' routine should report a failure to remove the prefs;
and:
B. there would be symptoms in lots of other apps as well.

However, it is a relatively trivial exercise to run 'repair permissions (in
Disk Utility) before running the remove office routine.

Worth a try!

No luck; same result.

Yep: That's what I imagined. I don't have a response from Microsoft yet, I
think all those who might know the answer were at Mac Word.

Of course you KNOW that Apples are programmed to suffer some kind of
gruesome failure right before Mac World, don't you? :)

Cheers
