I have direcway satelite for my internet connection which
is networked through my husbands computer. I have also
recently upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I can get
on the internet but if I try to go to a secure site the
internet connection fails. I do not have my firewall
enabled.It does this even if I disable all my McAfee virus
ware. My computer does have authentication checked in
network connections.
Because I can not access secure sites I tried adding
Earthlink dialup. I can access secure sites through it.
However, if I am on Earthlink most of the time I will be
dropped after a few minutes. I sent the error message to
Microsft which says I most likely have the blaster worm. I
have the patch for that worm (with McAfee)and have done
many virus scans but the scan says there are no viruses.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I'm about to
through my computer out the window.
