Every day when I open Microsoft outlook I get a message "a data file did not
close properly athe last time it was used and is being ckecked for problems.
Performannce might be affected while the check is in progress" it takes a
long time to open and often crashes.

Innumerable possible causes. No one could even attempt to help with so
little information. For starters, state:
1. Outlook version
2. Whether you've updated this version to the latest SP
3. Add-ins, sync software, or other utilities that might be preventing
Outlook from closing when you attempt to exit completely.

At the end of the day when you close Outlook, wait a while then bring up
Task Manager, in processes tab, is outlook.exe still running? if so end the
process.
Then in the morning on starting Outlook does the msg reappear?

if outlook is running after its closed, you should always get the message -
when it closes cleanly, no message.
