Keeping PMs out of each others projects in Project 2007

We have Project Server 2007. Currently all the PMs can access each others
projects and edit it.

How can we limit that so that they can only access their own projects?

Please advise. Thanks!

Dale, this document is for 2003 so I do not have a 'modify group button'...
how can I prevent this in Project Server 2007?

Please advise. Thanks!

OK, it just dawned on my that the solution may not work for you. Here's
why. The default permissions in Project Server 2007 only allow your PMs to
open and edit THEIR OWN projects. By default, they can't even see the
projects of their fellow PMs. So, you have changed the default permissions
to allow your PMs to open and edit all other PMs projects. Unless I know
precisely HOW you changed the default permissions, I'm afraid my solution
will fail for you.

So, the ball is back in your court. Exactly what did you change so that the
PMs can see and open each other's projects? Let us know and we will try to
assist you.

Hi Dale,

These settings were done by the company who implemented Project Server for us.

So I am unaware of the changes they made, but all of our PMs are able to
view others projects.

Can you please assist? Thanks!

There are several ways that your implementor could have changed the default
security settings. Without knowing specifically what they did, I CANNOT
guarantee that my changes will solve your problem. Anyway, I have rewritten
the FAQ to include the steps in Project Server 2007, available at:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/OpenOtherProjectsReadOnly.aspx

If the steps do not solve your problem, then I think you need to contact
your Project Server implementor and demand some documentation on precisely
HOW they changed your Project Server system. Once you get this information,
you can let us know what they changed, and then perhaps we can come up with
an alternate approach. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

I tried changing the permissions per the instructions sent, but it did not
solve the issue.

What permissions should the 'My Direct Report' category under Project
Manager Group have?

That category currently has all the items on 'allow'.

This has nothing to do with the My Direct Reports category. I think you
need to contact your Project Server implementor to find out what they
changed and then let us know what you find.
