Klatuu Returns

First, I want to apologize to everyone who I was working with and left you
with unanswered questions.
Because of a convergence of circumstances, I have not been able to
participate for some time. These circumstances included a job change,
hardware failure, and some personal health issues.
Thanks for your understanding.

Welcome back, Dave.
Good to have you on board again.

Hope the health, particularly, is good.
Hardware can be replaced.
A change of job can be good in the long term.

Thanks for the reply, Allen.
The hardware is replaced. I lost some things, but I have everything pretty
much recoved.

A 50% increase in rate is a good thing in the short run even.

The health thing is better and I can deal with it.

Hi Klatuu, or should I say Dave
It's good to see your name here again (finally I know your real name).

I also wasn't here for a while, and since then few things had changed,
one of them is you becoming an MVP, you definatly deserve it, congratulation.

Ok, Dave, we'll let it go this time, but we expect you to clear up your
backlog asap...

P.S. Welcome back! <g>

Hi, Dave.

Welcome back! Glad you're feeling better, have a new, better job (Chief
Data Architect?), and have the hardware replaced. I had a series of
hardware failures last summer, too, so I know how painful replacing the
hardware can be, but the plentiful backups were lifesavers!

Well, it wasn't that I didn't have backups, it was the unusual nature of the
failure.
The system kept getting slower, and slower and slower. To cut to the chase,
I became convinced I had a memory problem, So I got new and more memory which
did nothing. Found out the hard drive was failing very slowly, so my backups
contained a lot of corrupt data.

I had to search through all the backups to find good files. In all cases,
some were good and some not so good, so I had to piece it back together.
And, of course, reinstall a lot of software.

Hi Dave,

hope your health is better -- if not, I know some GREAT naturopaths and
if you email me privately, I would be happy to pick their brains :)

Hard drive failure ... hmmm, do you have enough cooling? I had a drive
failure and replaced it -- second one started failing as well. Then my
son suggested I needed more fans -- bought a new case with lots of fans
and haven't had a problem since!

Another thing I do now is keep my computer away from exterior walls as
we live in an area with lots of storms -- during one of these storms, a
25-lb magnet I kept on my filing cabinet (exterior wall) lost so much
strength it could barely hold itself up!

at any rate, happy you are back -- we have missed you!

Warm Regards,
Crystal

hi Klatuu
These circumstances included a job change,
hardware failure, and some personal health issues.
Welcome back, hopefully all issues are solved and you're in the best of
health again.

The disk drive was about 3 1/2 years old, so it was old enough to go. I do
keep my computer up 24/7, so it had a few rotations on it.

I'm not even sure I want to know why you have a 25 lb magnet on top of your
filing cabinet. I hope you don't have any memory chips in the top drawer.

We have storms here. I am in far north Fort Worth, Texas. It was, in fact,
pretty bad last night.

As far as health goes, I am much better. I got a bad cold that developed
into bronchitis and pneumonia. That part I am over, but it looks like I may
have fibrosis in my lungs. I don't know if a naturopath can do much about
that.

Thanks for posting.

Lobelia
---

Hi Dave,

talked to 2 naturopaths (husband and wife team) -- they both said the
same thing for fibrosis in the lungs -- Lobelia, which is very good for
lungs anyway even if you didn't have a problem. They said Lobelia is a
bronchial dilater and helps build the lungs.

According to them, you can either put a teaspoon or so under the tongue
once or twice a day or, if you want to do a lung purge, take enough to
get naucious and the do a bit more (each time, stick under tongue then
wait a minute or two before repeating) -- this brings up the diaphragm
and empties lungs with mucus and other stuff in lungs. They also said
it will purge some of the stomache, but mostly what comes up will be
from the respiratory tract including the throat, lungs, and bronchial tubes.

here is one link

University of Maryland Medical Center
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/lobelia-000264.htm

If you need a place to buy, they have a natural store and do phone
orders (7.95 for one ounce of tincture). I would be happy to give you
the number off-line -- just email me if you are interested.

"25 lb magnet"

no memory chips in the filing cabinet, just papers ;) It is the kind
with a handle for picking up nails, screws, washers, etc as I do some
woodworking.

Warm Regards,
Crystal
