LDAP Problem with Displaying Contacts

D

Dan

System: MacBook with Leopard running 'Entourage 2004 for Mac, Version
11.3.6'. The Entourage mail client is set up to connect to our Exchange
centralized address book via LDAP. When scrolling the Contacts list the
list blinks visible/not visible for every row scroll. It is as if it is
querying the LDAP on every scroll step; this can go on for 15 minutes
sometimes. And sometimes there is a LDAP error message that displays
about a connection problem. This is very irritating. Is there a way to
tweak this so the LDAP client only queries the server occasionally?

TIA, Dan

Hi Dan!

I know that in our environment scrolling through the GAL is very quick.

Nothing can be tweaked in Entourage to improve or impede performance so
I suspect either your network connection is very slow (are you accessing
your server over VPN?) or maybe your server settings have been adjusted
to return too few or too many results. By default, an AD search will
return about 1000 records and this number can be modified.

If you resolve this I'd be curious to know the cause.
