Login Issue after Project Portfolio Server 2007 Installation

EPMNovice

Hello,

I am facing a unique problem. I recently downloaded & installed the
evaluation version of MS Project Portfolio Server 2007 on SQL Server 2005.
Installation went well, however, I am not able to login using any of the
standard user Ids.

I have tried logging in using the windows ID which I have used for
installing the PPS (as mentioned in the installation guide). Login fails with
error message "You have entered an incorrect user name/password combination."
I have also tried without any password and received same error.

When I checked the dbo.SfUsers table, for default administor ID I can see
the password as "Invalid pass, uses Integrated Auth".

Pls. let me know how I can login to the tool first time after installation.

Thanks.

Did anyone get a fix for this? I am having the same problem.
Mike Glen's suggestion to go to project.mvps is completely useles, the site
hasn't been updated since May 2008 and only refers to Project 2003.

I actually located another post in this forum -

It stated that the person installed Portfolio Server (no SP1) first. I
tried and at least I get to the Logon Page now.

Hi Rob and the others,

I have found the cure for the PPS error post-installation.

You have to add your service account and machine account (both having '$'
tag) after their names to these groups:

1. SQL User Group
2. WSS Central ADmin - Application Management - Offer services to other
sites in the farm.

Restart IIS and run the connection page for PPS Again.

Best Regards,
Gokul Rajan
