LOOKUP.XLAM error

I get the following message everytime I open Excel (2007):

"LOOKUP.XLAM is already open. Reopening will cause any changes you made to
be discarded. Do you want to reopen LOOKUP.XLAM?" (Yes or NO)

How do I avoid this error message in the future. Web searches (general and
on Microsoft.com) have not come up with any helpful suggestions.

Not helpful = no suggestions or direction on where to try and fix this.
Seems like no one else has seen or asked for help with this problem. I'm
stumped...any ideas?

Several suggestions say reregister Excel from the Run menu. So I wondered if
you tried that.
