lost notebooks during activation

I recently bought a laptop that came with Office installed. I've been taking
notes during my classes in OneNote and it has been working really well for me
so far. A few days ago the program started asking me for the product key,
but I simply ignored figuring I could do it later. Last night I finally
entered the numbers, but when I went to open my notebook this morning it
wouldn't let me edit anything. Later it asked me to activate online, so I
did, but now my notebooks are nowhere to be found. They had three weeks
worth of college notes on them! I have looked through all of my documents,
the backup, all the folders I can think of, and I still can't find my notes!

If anyone can help me with my problem I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks!

I found my notebooks! Now the problem is that they are read only.

Again, help would be appreciated.
