Managing Online Survey Information

Folks-

I take online surveys as a hobby and do earn a small income from this
endeavor. I'm trying to figure out how to include this information about
each company that I take surveys for.

Web address of survey company
Date I joined
Kind of survey
Incentive points
Money earned
Sweepstakes entries
Date I redeemed points
Amount of time to take survey

I do surveys for many companies and am trying to figure out if I should just
make separate pages in one file for each company or separate files for each
company. My goal is after several months to see which company is "paying" me
the best. Also, how do I tabulate the points/cash awards? Is there a
feature that allows me to add up each companies incentives?

Can anyone offer advice?

I know my way around Excel just a tiny bit.

You mention Excel. This ia an Access (database) newsgroup. Are you
considering setting up a database?

Steve,

I'm not very familiar with databases. Maybe this is where I need to ask
this question, maybe not.

I have Microsoft Office 2004 on my MAC and Office 2007 on my PC. I want a
method to keep track of this information, something I can see at a glance,
something I can refer to as I work on this side business.

Any input now?

A database is the most effective tool for what you want to do. Check if your
version Office 2007 has Access.

Before we can begin to design a database for you, would you please provide
more details about each item in the following kist:

Kind of survey
Incentive points
Money earned
Sweepstakes entries
Date I redeemed points

* What is the difference between incentive points and money earned?

* What determines when you redeem points?

If you need it to run on the Mac, you'll probably want to use something other
than Access: the program is not available for the Mac (except through Windows
emulation).

Steve,

In the world of online surveys, many companies pay you in incentive points.
You can redeem
these points for gift cards, cash, consumer goods, and more. Some companies
let you redeem points for cash-1000 points=$10.00.

Others will pay you a cash prize. Some companies will pay you for your
survey participation but you must have at least $10.00 before you can request
payment. So, MyView survey company may allow you to redeem points at 1000
points and Opinion Outpost may require you to have a balance of $10.00 in
your account before you can request cash.

Many of us who do surveys for fun and for petty cash would like a way to
cull out those companies who do not send surveys to us. For myself, I'm a
member of at least 7 survey sites and I want to keep track of the survey
topics, incentives, and redemption requirements since I also write a blog
(not mentioning the topics-just what I've been learning about marketing). My
goal is to keep doing surveys because they are interesting and fun but to
keep track of how my time is spent as I am doing these surveys. I know I
will not get rich or even make more than $50/month yet I do find the process
of taking surveys fascinating. Even in the short time I've been doing this
gig with surveys, I've found several companies are asking very similar
questions about similar consumer products.

Does that help you formulate some ideas that might make this process more
streamlined?

I hope so.

"I"? This is a venue for FREE peer to peer support. Are you planning to
offer your services for a "reasonable fee"?
"We" still need details about:
"reasonable"
"fee"
"help"
"free"
"soliciting"
