Hi, I am trying to open a document that was saved on my PC at work and then
copied to a flash drive and then trying to open at home. I get a conversion
box that pops up and it shows that it is set under "other encoding" in
"Turkish-Windows" and in the preview screen it has all different letters and
numbers that mean nothing to me. On a couple of other files it says "Adobe
Reader could not open ______ because it is either not a supported file type
or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email
attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I have been told never to save or
open directly to/from removable media because both actions can cause file
corruption. (This I did not know and learned from someone who has responded
to my question). This info is very helpful.

On 7/31/09 I did download the Miscrosoft Office Converter Pack Version
11.0.0.0
and now I try to save file from my flash drive to my documents folder on the
C Drive and I get a message that "The converter failed to save the file" so I
am not sure if I should delete files on flash drive and start from scratch or
maybe I should uninstall the converter download, or if anyone has any other
ideas. Thanks so much for your help.

Using explorer copy docs on your flash drive to Documents folder.
Start Word, open the copied doc, what then?

Encoding is Windows(default) and in preview screen it has all letters and
numbers that mean nothing.

Thanks
