Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you brainy people can help me with my problem
installing Microsoft Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I have not previously
installed any version of microsoft office apart from the trial 2007 version
that it came with. I have done what the support centre suggested and removed
all office programs using Windows install clean up. However, after I have put
in the product key etc. I recieve an error message saying;
"Error 1913. Setup cannot update file c:\Windows\system32\mapisv.inf. Verify
that the file exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions
to update it."
I have no idea what this means and i have tried to resave the file to no
avail, and followed all the microsoft online help but still it keeps
reverting to this error message. I bought the Microsoft CD from Amazon and my
mum has installed it on her laptop so maybe i have to get some permission
from her laptop...I do not know!

If anyone has any information that can help me I would be very appreciative,

Thank you very much for your time,

Katy Richmond

Go to the location on your laptop and see if that file is there. If it is
not there then you may have a bigger problem.
(c:\Windows\system32\mapisv.inf). Also, did you check your licensing to see
if you could install it on multiple computers? Must office installs are good
for One primary machine and sometimes one laptop (both owned by the same
person). However, thay would stop you from installing it. Just give you an
annoying popup every once and awhile.
