Microsoft Project 2007

Hi,

I just upgraded my project from 2003 to 2007 version and now I have trouble
importing data from Excel to MSP 2007. What I'm trying to do is to import %
Work Complete from Excel to Project 2007 (Which I usually do on MSP 2003
without problem) using the Project Import Wizard, the % Work Complete did not
import but surpising that my Actual Work was calclulated according to the %
Work Complete I'm importing after the import process.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, I been doing this for years and years in MSP
2003 and don't have problem. Please help.

Hi Joe,

What service pack have you installed to Project 2007? The most current SP
is SP-2.

When you say the % Work Complete is not importing -- what is happening?
Does the % work complete value stay at 0%? It's possible that you are
attempting to import too much data. The % Work complete field is calculated
based upon actual and remaining work, so if you attempt to import a % Work
complete value that does not mathematically calculate based upon actual and
remaining work you are importing, it ignores the % Work Complete field value
and shows the calculated % work complete.

I just did a quick test using Project 2007 SP-2. I imported and merged data
from Excel 2007, merging on Task Unique ID and pulling in only % Work
Complete. The value imported fine as well as updating the Actual and
remaining work. When I tried importing (through merge) additional fields
such as Actual and remaining work, the % Work complete did not update if the
math was incorrect.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Joe V

Check what version of Excel are you using. If for Excel you are still using
2003, then before any import/export between that and MSP 2007, first go to
Tools > Options > Security and check in the last option 'Allow loading files
with legacy or non default file formats'.

I hope it helps.
