Microsoft Word 2003 runtime error

Using Word 2003, I get the runtime error 91 when exiting. I have checked
the link which is regularly suggested
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

It would appear that Adobe Acrobat is causing the problem because when I
disable the plug-in, the error disappears. However, upon restarting word,
the plug-in is re-enabled. What is the solution please? I'm using Adobe
Acrobat reader and writer version 5 on Windows 2000 service Pack 2.

Well, that was quick! A couple of questions. Firstly, I do not have the
adobe toolbar showing on the Microsoft Word toolbar as the article
describes. Does this article still apply? If I examine the plug-ins, there
is only one which is the pdfmaker.dot which I have renamed as
oldpdfmaker.dot after reading an article about the possibility that this was
a corrupted document.
Secondly, assuming that the article is still an appropriate fix, perhaps you
could assist me with some instructions of where to copy and paste the macro
described in this article. Many thanks for your help!

I assumed the Acrobat plug-in you mentioned was for the Acrobat toolbar.
If that's not the case, then you don't need the macro, but see
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm for instructions on how to
install macros. The purpose of pdfmaker.dot is to generate the Acrobat
toolbar in Word and make the buttons on the toolbar work. What Acrobat
plug-in are you talking about?

Well it appears to be a plug-in which is not used something to do with Adobe
Writer. Perhaps I should uninstall Adobe writer and just keep Adobe Acrobat
reader?
What do you think?

I use the Adobe writer all the time, so I wouldn't uninstall it; but if
you don't use it, then I guess it won't hurt to uninstall it.

Ok I cured the problem by deleting the pdfmaker.dot file from the startup
folder after uninstalling Acrobat 5. I Then re-installed Acrobat ver 6 and
all is now ok.
Thx

Checking with Adobe shows that Adobe version 5 is not
compatible with Microsoft Office 2003. One needs to buy
version 6. Isn't that great?
