Migrating Master Category List

I was forced by my Exchange Hosting Provider to create a new Outlook profile
when they switched servers due to an upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange
2007 (I use Outlook 2007). But when I logged into the new server with the new
profile, my Master Category List was gone.

I make extensive use of categorization (with colors) to keep my inbox
straight which always has over 200 items. Ditto for appointments. Now even
though the legacy emails still have the name of the category in them, the
Master Category List is gone, the colors are gone, and my months of
categorization is gone.

Is there any way I can migrate the Master Category List or move it from one
profile to the other? I can still access the earlier profile even though I
can't connect to Exchange on the old profile.

Thank you.

Apparently I've lost my signatures too. My .ost has changed, but all of the
..psts are the same except for the one that was created by the new profile
(with the new Exchange account). If anyone can save me the time of recreating
all this I'd be very appreciative.

So they are still assigned to your original messages on the new server?
Right click the root of your main mailbox, chose Properties and click the
Upgrade to Color Categories button.

Signatures are not removed by creating a new mail profile; they are still in
your Signatures folder. You only need to configure them with your new
account again;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format-> button Signatures...

There is no such button. I'm sure Color Categories are enabled because when I
click the category button...colors are there. The problem is it says :Green
Category, Red Category, Blue Category...etc" whereas before I probably had
60+ categories identifed in the Master Category List that were all color
coded. The legacy emails show, monochromatically, the categories that were
assigned because I can still sort my inbox by category, but I have no way to
assign categories to new emails unless I rebuild the whole Master Category
List.

I can tell from reading MS Help that in prior versions of Outlook the MCL
was stored in the registry, but they stopped doing that with OL 2007. Where
is it stored now? There must be some way of invoking or importing it, no?

The Master Category List is now stored in your default calendar, the list
also holds all of the colors. Maybe your provider has ignored that, and your
MCL is lost.

You can re-create the MCL from the items (e-mails etc.), but you need to
assign the colors once again.

You can use Category Manager (link in my signature) get every assigned
category easily back. Then use its Export function and make a backup of your
categories and colors.
